“Britain and Palestine: 1917 – 2017 One hundred years of broken promises”
Saturday October 21st: Day conference at Liverpool University
about Britain’s role in Palestine in the Mandate period from the Balfour Declaration in 1917 to the founding of the State of Israel. It will include a discussion on possible ways forward.
This will be an opportunity to hear the following eminent speakers:
Ali Abunimah – Palestinian-American author, journalist, activist for Palestine and co-founder of the Electronic Intifada.
Ilan Pappe – Jewish Israeli academic who was hounded from his post at Haifa University and is now Professor of History at Exeter University; author of several seminal works on the Palestinan/Israeli conflict.
Karl Sabbagh – Palestinian-British writer, journalist and television producer who worked on the production of the major exhibition below.
Chaired by Rev. Nicholas Frayling, formerly Rector of Liverpool at St. Nicholas’ Church on the Liverpool waterfront before becoming Dean at Chichester Cathedral; a founder member of The Balfour Project. (For more information go to www.balfourproject.org)
